I spent a few days in the Bay Area around San Jose and Santa Clara. I mostly hung out at the hotel by the pool 😉 , but did do a few fun things!I highly recommend going to visit the Winchester Mystery House. It is the house that inspired Stephen King’s ‘Rose Red’ and is fascinating! There are crazy staircases, doors that lead to nowhere, and 160 rooms. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside the house, but you can see more here. After the tour, our guide told us we had walked about a mile through the house! The Rose Garden was another place I went to. No roses were currently in bloom, but I could see it being a gorgeous place when it is full of flowers. It is a great place for a picnic. (keep in mind a school is across the street.) For dinner, check out Original Joe’s, a delicious Italian restaurant. I opted for the eggplant parmesan and it was fabulous. Oh, and the portions can definitely be shared 🙂 It is a very fun, casual atmosphere with a cool bar and friendly service. And don’t forget to try dessert! The reason for my trip was for the Bacon and Beer Classic in San Jose at Levi’s Stadium. It had over 50 bacon recipes from mac n cheese egg rolls, to bacon toffee, to bacon sliders, and over 100 varieties of craft beer. It was so fun walking around and trying all the different things the vendors had to offer. We even got to go down on the field to do some taste tests 😉 I definitely recommend going next year!
