The world’s largest pumpkin festival takes place every year from late August through October and is located at a Palace in Ludwigsburg, Germany known as Blühendes Barock. Each year has a different them, and this year’s theme is Fantasy! Local artists create pumpkin statues, sculptures, and scenes with all pumpkins! It is really quite an incredible site to see and definitely one to add to your Autumn Bucket List.
Unfortunately, it was raining while we were there. But we didn’t let the weather get us down!
It is a huge outdoor complex! My suggestion, pick up some Pumpkin Prosecco (it is delicious – we wanted to take some back home with us) and walk around exploring the expansive grounds.
There is also a cute cafe that had a full pumpkin menu. I tried the pumpkin soup and it was delicious. It was even topped with pumpkin seeds. Joe had the chili con carne with a side of mashed pumpkin, and he said he was great, too. With a full belly, we were ready to do some exploring.
Other activities include pumpkin carving and weighing the biggest pumpkins.
